June 22nd 2005
It started with a beautiful Selsey sunset...
Up close and personal
For the second time in as many weeks - the green flash (this time I remembered my camera's memory card!)
Still not convinced?
Six minutes after sunset, a distinct localised red glow could still be clearly seen
A stunning Belt of Venus (Earth's shadow seen in the opposite direction from the sunset)...
Saturn, Venus and Mercury appear
A quick drive to the other side of Selsey just in time to see the moonrise...
...and what a moonrise it was!
Could almost be a sunset
Beautiful
Just to round off a perfect evening - an NLC display!
My first ever NLC sighting in fact
With a telescope on the beach, it was a perfect opportunity to photograph some fine NLC structure
Image enhancement brings out additional detail in the clouds

NLC animation
Still to come - an animated sunset and moonrise...
